Treatment is tailored to individual needs using an integrative model, considering strengths, the environments in which the individual functions, and is sensitive to the specific tasks of the stage of development. “Best practice” guidelines for intervention and empirically validated models are foundational in our approach to treatment. Sensitivity to and respect for cultural differences is also a critical factor in the development of effective treatment. In our work with children and adolescents, parents are seen as essential partners in the process of therapeutic change.
